Did you know? - Response

Holy freakin crap. I just watched a video imforming on some of the most unbelievable news I have ever heard. Just think, if Myspace was a country, it would be the 11th largest in the world. The video almost tells us that we are ahead of ourselves. They are teaching information for jobs that don't even exist that will help problems we don't even know. Our technology has advanced so much, we are pretty much DEPENDENT on it. With our computers, we are connecting with people on the other side of the world. The total number of text messages we send a day exceeds the total population of the world. It's amazing how far technology has brought us, and it's even more amazing how much further it's going to go. Technology is effecting our personal lifes. 1 out of every 8 marriages last year consisted of a couple who met online.

Observation Paper Response

Wow. Maybe I don't have as much self-confidence in my work as I should. I was honestly expecting a high C, or maybe a low B if I was feeling lucky. Writing is not my specialty, or at least I thought. Maybe I am a decent writer, but I just didn't realize it. I think maybe why I did make as high as I did was because I thoroughly enjoyed this assignment. I got to write a paper about a place I absolutely love going to.

Seeing my mistakes, which some were pretty careless, make me want to slap myself, and pretty hard at that. I had 1 comma splice. Going back and looking at the error, I probably would have caught it if I had spent more time looking over it.

My main problem is writing passively. In this paper it's worse, because since I have been to Joe's so many times, I didn't catch myself referring back to past events, when I should have been focusing on what I was witnessing that night.

Semi-colons are what I don't like to mess with. I thought that I would push myself and try to use one, but it didn't work out. Hopefully, I will finally learn about them in the handbook.

An interview with Mercedes Lander

http://www.blasting-zone.com/Kittie2.htm

The interview is with the drummer, Mercedes Lander, but the all girl metal band Kittie. They have a new record dropping on shelves February 20, and have just launched their new nation-wide tour.

In the interview, they cover how they found their two new members, Trish and Tiffany. They just had recently gotten into some legal issues, regarding their new record label "Kiss of Infamy". The old 80's rock band Kiss, pressed legal actions against the band to change the name, since Kiss owned the word "Kiss" in the entertainment industry. The girls then changed the name to "X of Infamy", with "X" being the international sign for "kiss".

They discussed how they fought to get out their old record label, Artimis Records. They now, run their own label, and have some projects of their own. They are now managing 3 upcoming bands.

Where I'm From

I come from one of those cliche small towns. It has 2 traffic lights, one entering town, and then one while your leaving town. Your house is more than likely larger than our City Hall. Its your typical little country town.
I grew up with pretty much the same people all my life. I was born in Orlando, Fl., and I spent 6 years in Ft. Lauderdale. I was there for grades K-3. I moved to Leesburg, Ga when my dad was transfered in 1997. It was a HUGE change. I went from growing up in a city with the same friends, to moving to the middle of nowhere and having to start my life all over again.
Growing up in a small town, everyone knows everyone. Everyone also knows everyone's business. So, when you grow up with the same people all your life, you eventually know their life story. It took me a while to get used to everyone knowing what was going on. My second day of school, everyone knew that I was the "new kid".
However, everyone I grew up with was extremely nice. I kept most of my friends through my school years. The first friend I made when I moved was Samantha. I am now going to be in her wedding this coming May. I did, however, lose some friends along the way.
Growing up in a small town, there really wasn't much to do. We passed time with eating at the same Mexican Restaurant, some mud bogging, going to see "haunted" churches, and anything else to terrorize our small town.
